EXPERIENCE IN USING AI FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES

Due to the 21st century era and the industrial revolution, education has also had a positive impact. Technology plays an important role in the revolution and evolution. People tend to use technology on a daily basis instead of using their own energy. Many students are exposed to the use of technology as well. Mainly, technology is used for their education. The use of modern equipment and technology improves the learning and interactivity of students. It also confirms that when education is aided with technology, the transfer of knowledge becomes more efficient. This also includes the use of AI. Founder and principal of Sertain Research, Barry Chudakov (in Janna Anderson, 2018) mentioned that by 2023, the human machine or AI collaboration will be a necessary tool to manage and counter life. AI makes work much easier and less time-consuming, reducing the burden of completing tasks.

As for me, I also utilize this technology to enhance my learning. I embrace the use of AI and have discovered numerous applications that incorporate AI, including ChatGPT, Popai.pro, Quillbot and many others. Quillbot is an AI application that I have utilized to enhance my English essay writing. Upon my first use, I was astounded by the capabilities of the AI. It transformed a mundane sentence into an engaging one, expanding my knowledge and vocabulary. QuillBot offers various modes, such as Standard, Fluency, and Creative, to cater to different writing needs. Each mode provides a unique perspective on the content, allowing students to find the tone and style that best suits their work. While QuillBot offers both free and premium versions, some students have found limitations with the free version, such as word count and access to all features, prompting them to consider an upgrade. Despite this, I continue to use the free version to avoid relying too heavily on AI.

I have used Audiopen.ai to complete tasks when I ran out of time to type each word of an essay. This application allows me to record my voice and convert it into a sentence and an essay that matches what I want. I appreciate the multilingual feature, which ensures non-native English speakers can benefit equally. The AI is designed to eliminate filler words, repetitive phrases, and incoherent segments, providing meaningful content. The availability of the web and mobile app ensures easy access from any device, anytime. Using Audiopen.ai, I can draft papers, memos, and emails in a fraction of the usual time, enhancing productivity. The tool makes it easy to publish-ready text effortlessly.

            My friend also recommended using ChatGPT, which he said is proficient in natural language processing (NLP) tasks such as writing books, scripts, essays, and holding conversations. He also mentioned that the AI chat bot is skilled at summarizing, reformatting data, and making contextual suggestions. I have found his suggestion to be accurate, as I have been able to enhance my writing using ChatGPT as a reference without simply imitating its output.

            This is my brief experience using AI. Honestly, AI has made my learning much easier. However, I need to decrease my reliance on AI to prevent my writing skills from deteriorating. AI should only be used as a reference to enhance creativity in writing and generate new ideas.
