 ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF AI AMONG IPGKBM STUDENTS'

Students are increasingly turning to AI for a variety of reasons, and it is becoming an essential part of education. AI-powered educational platforms can adapt to the individual needs of students, providing personalized learning experiences akin to having a tailored tutor. These tools can also assist students with homework by offering explanations, solutions, and additional resources, essentially acting as a 24/7 study buddy. AI helps students gather and analyze information quickly, making the research process more efficient, like having a super-fast and smart research assistant. Additionally, AI-powered apps can help students organize their schedules, set reminders, and manage their time effectively, acting as a digital planner that understands their priorities. These tools can also help students ensure the originality of their work by detecting and preventing plagiarism, essentially serving as an honesty checker for assignments. Ultimately, students use AI to enhance their learning experiences that empowers students in their academic journey. In addition, students at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Bahasa Melayu (IPGKBM) also use this AI to help complete their coursework.

                Based on my observations, IPGKBM students often use several AI applications. One of the most commonly used is Brainly. Brainly is a great option for students who are just starting to explore AI. The company's mission is to enhance understanding and speed up learning in the digital age. It functions like a digital study partner, helping with homework and difficult questions. I spoke with some students who use the Brainly app, and most of them had positive things to say about how AI tools like Brainly have improved their academic experience. To ensure the accuracy of information, Brainly has expert moderators who monitor content quality. In addition to finding answers, Brainly offers a platform for students to discuss, debate, and explore topics with peers from around the world. However, some students mentioned that certain premium features of Brainly are only available through a paid subscription, which may not be accessible to all students.

            Besides that, OpenAI is an AI application used by students at IPGKBM that offering revolutionary potential for research, understanding, and knowledge dissemination. Its extensive library of research papers and studies serves as a valuable resource for students, and language models like GPT can enhance writing and research capabilities. According to my classmates who use OpenAI, it presents a golden opportunity to be part of the AI revolution and be equipped for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow. My classmates also mentioned that OpenAI can help with the brainstorming process for essay writing. There is a chat box where we can ask questions, and the AI will respond and ask more questions to ensure that it meets our needs and interests.

            In conclusion, the majority of students at IPGKBM use AI. While there are clear advantages to using AI, there are also disadvantages. Despite its advancements, AI still struggles with the creativity and intuition that humans possess. As said by James Scofield O'Rourke, Professor of Notre Dame's University, "The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings." (in Janna Anderson,2018). We all know that, students have their own unique creativity and ideas that AI may not be able to replicate. Over-reliance on AI can lead to a loss of basic skills among humans. Depending too heavily on machines for tasks may result in a diminishing human skill set, which could be problematic if the technology fails or is misused. Students should not rely solely on AI and should strive to maintain their own knowledge and skills. Ultimately, it is important for all students to use AI carefully as a tool to improve their writing skills.
